27. Gladur, Flædareyri
To the east of Höfdi in the mouth of Leirufjördur fjord is Flædareyri, where the assembly house Gladur was built in the 1930s. Halldór B. Halldórsson of Ísafjördur owned Höfdi at that time, and donated both the land and the cement for building the house; the farmers in Grunnavíkurhreppur parish each gave the worth of a lamb to cover other costs. People came walking over Dalsheidi heath in the 1930s to go to dances at Flædareyri, and would often stay overnight at the barn at Höfdi.
